Last October, NomadHer hosted an incredible gathering with over 120 members at the Female Globetrotter Festival 2023 [Seoul Edition], held at the Seoul Tourism Organization in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Building on the success of the previous year, this edition embraced the theme "She Can Travel Anywhere," aligning with NomadHer's mission to empower women through solo travel. With over 120 Korean and international female travelers, digital nomads, and travel creators in attendance, the event facilitated networking, engaging activities, and a shared sense of empowerment — echoing the sentiment "We can do it together!" The festival concluded triumphantly, leaving behind new friendships and captivating stories.
The festival featured an impressive lineup of nine speakers, including digital nomads, travel creators, world travelers, and female leaders. Each speaker shared incredible stories and insights, providing a global perspective that the 1 hour and 40 minutes proved insufficient to absorb fully.
✔Antje courageously stepped away from the comfortable life of a German office worker, overcame language and cultural barriers, and successfully transitioned into a creator specializing in Korean travel.
✔Shazia, a Muslim woman born and raised in Pakistan, not only an AI researcher but also an avid traveler, imparted valuable lessons on seeking opportunities without giving up.
✔Gaëlle from Switzerland generously shared her experience on sustaining a lifestyle as a digital nomad, seamlessly balancing work and travel.
✔Sangye, a traveler and AI Designer, provided insightful reflections based on her daunting solo overseas experiences.
✔"Yesterday I was a car traveler, today I was a shuffle dancer, and tomorrow I'll be a senior model!" Somuz, a professional challenger in his 60s, emphasized the importance of curiosity about the world for enjoying the present, not just waiting for tomorrow.
✔Jihye, the CEO of GreenWave, an environmental startup, as well as an active sports influencer and announcer, shared insights from her enlightening trip to Thailand.
✔"My dreams are as big as I picture them!" Sunny boldly embraced the challenge of pursuing her dreams, refusing to settle for less.
Many were curious about the process behind selecting and bringing together such a dynamic group, sparking conversations and reflections on the impressive coordination and effort that went into curating an event with speakers who offered unique perspectives and inspiring stories.
Here are some insightful words from our speakers at the Talkshow:
"Start with a rough plan and take that first step. Even if it's a small step, it's crucial to showcase your results to the world. This helps you gauge if you're heading in the right direction and if you genuinely enjoy what you're doing."
"Viewing the world with pure curiosity can reshape your life. Shifting your mindset from what you have to do to what you want to do is transformative. Rather than saying, “I’m too old for this,” you'll find yourself thinking, “I can still do it!” This mindset drives me to continually seek new challenges, moving beyond being just a shuffle dancer, a senior model, or a car traveler."
"Being a digital nomad is just one approach to life. Ultimately, it's about exploring answers to questions about oneself. The key is to reflect on your strengths and consider how you can contribute to others. Transforming your dream into reality involves addressing every small question within yourself."
After the talk show, it transitioned into a networking session—a perfect opportunity to engage with the nine speakers, ask questions, and connect with fellow participants. Immediately after the talks concluded, a vibrant atmosphere emerged as attendees gathered around each speaker to delve into the discussions, share their thoughts, and build deeper connections.
The enthusiasm of the women eager to generously share their knowledge added a dynamic and heated ambiance to the festival. All participants fully enjoyed the supportive atmosphere that permeated the event. We received valuable feedback expressing a desire for more networking time, and we're excited to incorporate diverse programs with additional speakers and participants next year!
The NomadHer Festival took place at the Seoul Tourism Organization, the heart of tourism in Seoul. An enjoyable class brought together K-POP, representing Korean culture, and Taekwondo. Foreign travelers from various countries, including France, the United States, and more, participated in the K-POP Taekwondo class with King's Lady, a Korean female Taekwondo performance group. They immersed themselves in Taekwondo through a combination of visual, auditory, and physical learning, practicing moves while enjoying lively K-pop music together.
In addition, a unique Tahitian dance class was held in collaboration with Tahiti Tourisme and led by Jina, who fell in love with the charm of Tahitian dance while traveling around the world. She became a Tahitian dancer and the representative of the Otahiti Group. As participants followed the dance, with its beautiful movements reminiscent of palm trees and the blue sea, they felt like they were on a trip to Tahiti. Is there any freer time than moving your body to the rhythm of Tahitian music?
Now, explore a plethora of irresistible gifts at the festival! A generous welcome gift bag for every attendee featured NomadHer's 'She Can Travel Anywhere' canvas bag and an array of organic cosmetics, nutritional supplements, and travel kits.
Moreover, the venue buzzed with diverse sponsor booths and events. The Tahiti Tourisme's Lucky Draw, offering prizes such as Tahitian black pearls and monoi oil, drew enthusiastic cheers. Brand booths hosted various events, including a follow-up event for a travel kit and an exclusive discount coupon for NomadHer attendees.
